Diageo Poland
Key Account Manager
The Business
Diageo are one of the largest drinks businesses in Poland, taking the number one position in some sub-sectors within the drinks industry. The business produces Smirnoff vodka locally, as the interest for international brands outside of their locality grows. This has helped support the growth strategy currently undertaken by the business which has seen them successfully grow 15% in the last year. We have built a strong business relationship with Diageo, with two placements made in just seven months.
The Role
The key account manager role had been created through organic growth within the company. They wanted somebody from a large blue-chip FMCG background, particularly with good English. They were looking for a candidate with a certain amount of commercial experience and who was creative, enthusiastic and who could bring something new to the company.
The Solution
We approached the business to introduce a candidate who was interested in working for Diageo. There was nothing specifically for this individual but the business asked us to look for a Key Account Manager. We spoke in detail to the National Account Manager who gave us the brief. The role would prove challenging as the salary available did not necessarily mirror the calibre of candidate required by the organisation. It was agreed to undertake a database search with no advertisements. We searched the sevenhr database and also networked candidates in order to produce a shortlist. Four candidates were interviewed, with three of these introduced to the client. All 3 were interviewed at first stage, with one candidate taken to second and offered the role.
