Karen Millen
Visual Merchandiser
The Business
June 2004 saw Karen Millen join the Mosaic Group, with brands such as Oasis and Coast. They now operate from over 110 stores across the UK and the rest of the world making them a truly global fashion force. Focused on quality and style, Karen Millen has a following of fashion savvy consumers.
The Role
The purpose of the role was to cover the Birmingham region. They were looking for candidates with experience of window dressing, who were very creative and challenged the visual guidelines set out by the business. The role was different to that found in other businesses due to the fact regional roles usually have managerial responsibility and this one did not. With this in mind Karen Millen were looking for people with strong high street fashion backgrounds with a flair for design and an appreciation for the products.
The Solution
Karen Millen approached the sevenhr retail team after receiving a letter regarding the visual candidates we have registered with the business. We spoke in detail with the business to gain a thorough understanding of the role, the business, the culture and direction it is moving in. From this it was decided to undertake a database search to find the strongest candidates in the area. In addition retail contacts in the region that wouldn’t necessarily be right for the role but may be able to recommend somebody were also approached and networked. Four candidates were interested in the role and we interviewed them with specific reference to the role looking at their skills, abilities and motivations. From this two candidates were shortlisted and interviewed by the business, with one being offered the role.
