National Account Manager
The Business
Kellogg’s is one of the leading breakfast suppliers to the UK. It produces over 40 products, trading in over 160 countries, across six continents; it is fair to say they are a truly global company! We have been working closely with the business since February 2006, introducing many great candidates to them.
The Position
They were looking for a National Account Manager for the symbol & high street accounts. The primary function of this role was to manage and develop sustainable customer relations with direct supermarket customers and achieve agreed annual business targets. They needed somebody who was passionate about brands and had a sound understanding of marketing activities including advertising. The successful candidate needed to display excellent awareness of both marketing and account management.
The Process Undertaken
Having previously placed with the business we had a good understanding of the types of individuals who fit well. We arranged a meeting to fully understand what they were looking for.
From this, it was decided that a database search would be the best route to find the correct candidates. We searched for people who would fit the role in terms of seniority and background and also searched for contacts in the most relevant businesses to see if they could recommend anybody. From this, a list of suitable candidates was produced, who were then interviewed. We focused on motivations, skill set and attitude; as discussed with Kellogg’s. We then produced a shortlist of four candidates who were put forward. The interview process was two stages with an offer being made immediately.
